I am a Daughter of Africa

I am a Daughter of Africa…

I am named

I am a wanderer

The ground underneath me rumbles and cracks

Joined to this foreign land, I am

Home

My mother looks at me,

a mixture of revile and yearning

I am a pillar of salt

I am here, being pulled back there

The past ones calling out to me

One day, I am leaving

One day, I am returning
